I believe health equity can be achieved when communities have the power to drive policy and systems change.
B. Lucy Peterson, LLC
Marginalized communities are often excluded from decision-making despite being the most knowledgable of how to improve health equity.
I support clients in meeting community members to co-design social determinants of health programs.
By investing in community-driven solutions, we can create healthier and more supportive environments.
Community-Based Participatory Research
From community health needs assessments to story-telling activities, I help clients respectfully engage participants and uplift community voice and expertise in both quantitative and qualitative data. I also firmly believe all data collected should be given back to communities in a way that can be used to advocate for change.
Community Engagement & Power Shifting
Using Facilitating Power’s Spectrum of Community Engagement to Ownership as a guide, I support clients in advocating for and enacting programs and policy changes with communities to promote health equity. I also help clients identify opportunities to shift power to communities so that people with lived experience are given decision-making authority over policies that impact their health.
Strategic Planning
With community member input and ownership over the process, I facilitate the development of strategic plans for social determinants of health programs with my clients. I have expertise in working with communities to develop plans to address food access and nutrition security, sexual and reproductive health, and maternal and child health.
